Foxconn, the world’s largest contract electronics goods manufacturers, today announced a partnership with Firefox OS maker Mozilla and the Taiwanese chipset maker Via Technologies for developing their Firefox OS powered mid-range tablets. With this partnership, the company aims to make high quality yet inexpensive tablets targeted at the developing countries.

Firefox OS Devices

Last year Foxconn announced that they will jointly develop and manufacture as such as 5 Firefox OS devices including a Tablet. Last year we even leaked the specs of the same Quad-Core tablet. This year already Mozilla announced from the stage of CES 2014 about the upcoming Development plans related to Tablets powered by Firefox OS. Soon they will reveal the details about the Tablet UI development program. Initially they have given the following tablet specs as a hint:

Initial Partners and Hardware:

Specs are:

InFocus 10″
1280×800 24bit color
16GB Storage
2GB RAM
802.11 b/g/n
267x171x9.7mm 580g

If you closely monitor, this specs is closely similar with our leaked specs of the Quad Core Tablet powered by AllWinnter Technology chip. While Foxconn is focusing on the hardware part, Mozilla is developing the software part the UI customization along with its maintenance.
