Buy paid apps from Firefox OS Marketplace, pay it through your phone bill via Bango

Do you have Smartphone? Love to buy premium Apps from the Marketplace/Apps Store? Don’t have Credit Card? Oh! Not to worry if your Smartphone is powered by the latest sensation Firefox OS by Mozilla. Couple of weeks back a Cambridge based company Bango joined hands with Mozilla, enabling App purchase from the Firefox Marketplace easier than ever.

Through Bango, users can purchase any App they like from the Firefox OS Marketplace and make the payment via their Carriers or telecom operators. Usually Credit & Debit cards are common in developed countries, but hey! As Mozilla said, their main focus is the developing or emerging markets, where still credit card is not a common mode of purchase. Adding this option will increase the popularity of the OS in the emerging markets for sure. Currently Bango has a deal with both Telefonica Movistar and DT, so this feature is already available in Colombia and Spain with Movistar and in Poland with t-Mobile. In Venezuela, Bango has launched with credit card connectivity, soon they will also get the operators billing facility like the other three.

The Bango Payments Platform enables users of Firefox Marketplace to easily purchase digital content without the need for a credit or debit card. Instead, Bango’s unique billing identification technology ensures users enjoy one-click operator billing, paying on their pre or post-paid phone bill. As a result, Bango achieves industry leading conversion rates.

Here is what the two companies has to say,

Ray Anderson CEO of Bango said: “Firefox Marketplace is the first app store to embrace operator billing from launch. We’re proud that Mozilla has chosen Bango, and we are pleased to be opening-up direct operator billing for our partners in these exciting, emerging smartphone markets. For many consumers in fast growth markets, a Firefox OS device will be their first smartphone. Operator billing from Bango enables every user of a smartphone to pay for apps and other digital content with one-click, without exception and even over Wi-Fi.”

Rick Fant, Vice President, Apps and Marketplace for Mozilla added: “Bango will enable Firefox Marketplace to provide flexible monetization for developers and simple payment options for users, with tailored support as Firefox OS devices reach new markets around the globe.”

We can certainly say by this early move by Mozilla Firefox OS will definitely have an advantage over all the other existing as well as upcoming mobile OS.
